Setting up Python on Mac OS X

Here are a few commands to get started quickly with Python on the Mac, installing packages relevant for computer vision and machine learning tools.

sudo port install py27-matplotlib py27-numpy py27-scipy py27-ipython

Install OpenCV with qt4, tbb, python27 support

sudo port install opencv +tbb +python27 +qt4

When installing python packages that are not in opencv use:

python setup.py install --user

When executing python files and you wish to regain the prompt to peer into the stack variables pause execution, place this in the file where you want to stop execution.
